Michael Trautman has his HEAD IN THE CLOUDS. Where else would he come up with the inspired looniness that he presents in his solo theatre performance? This show is comprised of Mr. Trautman's finest works developed over a career spent performing and touring around the world, working in theatres, festivals, circuses, universities, schools, plays, and even on street corners. From his signature clown routine revolving around far too many things to do with ping-pong balls, to his stage version of the Road Runner cartoon, to his humorous and deeply touching story about the keys collected throughout the lifetime of a gracefully aging grandfather, Michael brings a delightful array of eccentric characters to life in a theatre performance that is not to be missed.

For over 30 years, Axis Theatre Company has delighted and inspired audiences of all ages with award-winning physical theatre performances. The Emperor’s New Threads is their witty adaptation of Hans Christian Anderson’s classic story. Obsessed with the need to always wear the newest styles, an Emperor falls prey to two rascals who boast they can make him such fashionable new clothes that only those who are “smart and good at their jobs” will be able to see them. The Emperor and everyone else, concerned only with other people’s opinions, deny their own common sense and pretend to see what isn’t there – except for one small child who is not afraid to tell the truth. Through music, physical humour and imaginative storytelling, Axis Theatre weaves a tale of acceptance and the importance of honesty.

Sprites, monsters, a shipwreck on a mysterious island, love at first sight – and that’s just the first few minutes! The Tempest tells the story of the wizard Prospero and his daughter Miranda who have been marooned on an enchanted island for 12 years. Prospero, with the help of Ariel, a mischievous fairy, uses magic to create a storm, a shipwreck, and to play tricks on his enemies. His actions lead him, however, to learn about the true power of love and forgiveness. Told by visible, costumed puppeteer/storytellers John Nolan and Kathy MacLellan with magnificent puppets, lengths of fabric, live musical accompaniment by Russell Levia, and lots of imagination, Rag and Bone Puppet Theatre’s adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic play is filled with all the romance and intrigue of the original. Children and adults alike will be swept up in this magical story!
